Kansas City Art Institute 1988-1991

Between 1988-1991 I attended Kansas City Art Institute and studied weaving with Jane Lackey and Jason Pollen.  I was particularly drawn to multi-layered structures especially double weave pickup.  During this time, I worked part time at the DesignTex showroom which gave me insight to high-end jacquard fabrics for commercial interiors.  I was very inspired to mimic some of the jacquard structures on my 8 harness loom at school.  Within the context of doulbleweave, I was able to achieve shading by mixing the layers in different ratios.  I decided that I would eventually pursue a job as a designer in industry.
