Between 1991 and 1994 I attended UCLA and pursued my MFA with Jim Bassler and Neda Al Hilali. I experimented with different materials and structures during the three years. My thesis show highlighted my interest in double woven pockets, mostly open ended so found objects could be put in and taken out. I incorporated many hand manipulated techniques, such as double weave pickup and brocade into the work. I also continued to explore structure on an AVL compu-dobby loom and produced some double and triple weave pickup samples for my portfolio for industry.
