Worlds Collide

While I worked on my Certificate of Excellence submission, I started to understand how I could incorporate weaving and origami together.  I had been looking at a lot of tessellation origami, which is a beautifully layered geometric origami art form.  I looked at folders like Eric Gjerde, Robert Lang and Andrea Russo.  I realized that the discontinuous pleats that I wove years ago, could be folded into geometric shapes to mimic the tessellation origami that had inspired me.  At first, I just worked on paper models until I was ready to start weaving my first samples on the loom shortly after our move to Northern California.  These studies were made around 2009.
